THEFT OF A CONSTABLE'S COAT, Feeling the weather somewhat warm tha other evening, Constable Don removed his overcoat and hid it in a yard in'Wakefieldstreet. When ho went for it, it had dis-; % appeared. , Subsequently he discovered it' :. in a second-hand dealer's shop, where it had been pawned for 5s by Harold Kelly. When charged in company with George O'Brien, before Mr. E. C. ; Cutten, j3.M.„ % in the Police Court yesterday, with steal-,: • ing the coat, Kelly said O'Brien had given it him to pawn. He was convicted and ordered to come up for '• sentence when called upon, and" O'Brien, against whom, there was a long list of convictions, was )' sentenced to one month's hard labour. A STOWAWAY. A well-dressed man, J. W. DRUNKENNESS. , Agnes Fanny Jones, John Jackson, Dennis Downey, Daniel McLeod, and Henry Barstow were each fined 10s for ! drunkenness; Alfred James Thomas and Charles Krause were convicted, discharged and prohibited. Three first offenders were, convicted and discharged, and two were fined 6s each. A sentence of seven days' ' imprisonment was imposed on Thomas \ Whitford, to cover convictions for drunkenness, breaking his prohibition or-. der, and indecency. For a Ifr/Bnch of his prohibition order and insobriety Samuel John Lee was fined £2.
