REMUERA ROAD BOARD.

'♦ A meeting of the Remuera Road Board was held last evening. Present: Messrs. 0. A. Oawkwcll (chairman), E. Bond, P. Spencer, J. S. Dickson, M.P., and G. APilkington. The condition of Clonbern Road -was referred to by a deputation of residents from that ' locality, who asked that the work of kerbing and channelling be put in hand immediately. It was agreed to take steps to start the work, the chairman explaining that it was included in a scheme recently • approved. The Board decided that it was necessary, cm account of the increase in business coming up for its consideration, that the number of members be nine instead of five as at present. A motion to that effect was carried, and will bo confirmed at a special meeting later. It was agreed that of the loan of £20,000 raised to meet the cost of drainage works, a sum of £15,000 should be placed on fixed deposit Mr. Dickson handed the chairman a copy of the Local Government Bill, which proEoses to wipe away all local bodies. It was, e said, a serious question, and should be considered by the Board.
