PARNELL BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The Parnell Borough Council met. last evening, when there were present :' Messrs. W. Thomas (voted to the chair in the Absence of the Mayor), X. Long, 0. Kay, B. Maxwell. A. Brooto, J. Topper, and G. Scarborough.

Mr. W. S. Cochrane (secretary to the General Church Trust) wroto stating that the trustees. Nero prepared to contribute £10 towards the erection of a retaining- wall in Brighton Boa.*, subject to the approval of the trustees of the manner in which the wall should bo constructed. Mr. Thomas moved, "That tho offer of the tri fctees be accepted," and this was adopted. Tho secretary of tho Harbour Board wrote Mating that, in regard to the proposed extension of King's Drive at St. George's Bay, it was intended ai present to form the road about 30ft in width only with scoria, leaving the completion of the work until full settlement had taken place. !t wan explained that this portion of the drive was all i.ew ground and that the Harbour Board's suggestion was to leave tho Completion of tho roadway until the formation work had become consolidated. Teh matter was referred to the Street* Committee, with power to act. Mr. William Forrest wrote asking permission to cart shingle from Judge's Bay to the tunnel inlet in Bridge-water Road. He said he would require to cart iicrora the path a dirt-anco of some oOft, and would, if possible, procure wide-tired drays, and would cart only during flue weather. lie undertook to leave the path in pood order to the satisfaction of the Council's officials. As this was the only practical way of getting the shingle, etc., to this part of No, 9 contract for the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board, it was asked that the Council should grant this request. It was stated by several contractors that the carrying out of this work would mean tho breaking up of a footpath which had cost a good deal of money tor its formation. The request was declined.
