GEORGE GROSSMITH. SEN.

By Telegraph— A»§ociatlon.— London, March 2. The death occurred to-day of George Grossmith, sen., at the age of 64.

George Grossmith. actor and entertainer was the son of a London police court reporter at. Bow-streot. He made his first appearance on the dramatic stage in the " Sorcerer" in 1877, and was so successful that ho was retained for t the subsequent Gilbert and Sullivan performances at the Opera Comique and the Savoy. From 1889 onwards he travelled almost continuously in Great Britain, Canada, and the United States in his single-handed humourous and musical recitals, in which he achieved wonderful success. He was the author of over 600 humorous and satirical songs and sketches.
