POLICE COURT NEWS.
The Police Court on Saturday was prosided over by Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M. Insobriety cost John Robert Hayden 10s; .four- first offenders 5s each one first offender his bail (£1), and John Harries and Alexander Campbell were convicted, prohibited, and discharged. Pleading guilty to insobriety, Thos. Passmore was fined 53, but. pleaded not guilty to stealing eight bottles of gin. the property of the Tyser Line. Ltd. He was remanded till to-day on the latter charge. Frederick and Louisa Trafford, charged with vagrancy and insobriety, were remanded for a week for medical treatment.
John Wm. Roach whs sentenced to one month's hard labour for stealing an oilskin coat, the property of Frederick Winslade.
Charged with uttering a spurious coin (a gilded farthing) with intent to defraud, Wm. Chapman, Henry Watson, and George Hartman Croul, were remanded for a week, bail two sureties of £75 or one of £150 being allowed.
