CANON SADLIER, MELBOURNE.
SYNOD AWAITING ACCEPTANCE.

Nelson, Thursday. This Diocesan Synod has been sitting in camera for the past two days, deliberating on tho election of a Bishop, in succession to Dr. Mules, resigned. , It w«.s announced to-night that tho Synod had unanimously decided upon the election of tho Very Rev. William Charles Sadlier, Canon of Melbourne Cathedral, whoso acceptance is now being awaited. It is understood that Canon Sadlier had expressed his willingness to bo nominated. ' The Bishop-elect was, ordained to the deaconato in 1891, and to the priesthood in 1892, by. tho Bishop of Melbourne. He was vicar of Bendigo parishes up to 1904, when ho was appointed Canon of Melbourne. He was also lecturer on theology at St. John's College and Ridley College, Melbourne. Canon Sadlier is understood to bo a churchman of the broad school.
