A NATIVE'S DEATH.

MEDICAL AID DELAYED. f [BT TELEGRAPH. OWN" CORRESPONDENT.] Whaxgaret, Wednesday. The native Waiomio, who was admitted to the Whangarei Hospital on Wednesday last suffering from injuries sustained while working timber near Hukerenui, succumbed, and an inquest was held to-day before Mr. J. M. Killen, district Coroner, sitting without a jury, that he saw the native jacking logs, and A boy named William Wilson stated one log rolled back and crushed him . Charles Jobbett, a farmer, who lives at Riponui, said the deceased was employed by him on contract He had the injured man removed to hia house after the accident occurred and sent for Dr. East, of EikurangL Witness said the doctor refused to come. In reply to the Coroner witness added that the native did not revive any medical attention until the next lay, when he was brought into the Whaagarei Hospital. Charles Jobbett, father of the previous witness, was also questioned by the Coroner in regard to Bending for a doctor after the accident occurred. On being pressed as to what was the actual reply of the doctor to the summons, witness said it was, " 0, send him to the hospital." Dr. Frasar Hurst, medical superintendent of the Whangarei Hospital, said that the cause of death was injuries to the head and hemorrhage.

' A verdict of accidental death was returned in accordance with tlio medical testimony, and the Coroner beyond pointing out the danger of men working by themselves while jacking timber made no comments on the evidence that had been tendered.
