M*. T. GSXSHAX (City Coroner) left for the Great Barrier Uui evening, and he will remain there for a fortnight. During Mr. Gresbam's absence, Mr. A. Hams, Coroner for Tamaki West, will officiate for him. Sitting in chambers yesterday, Mr. Justice Chapman granted the following applications for admission as hamsters and solicitors of the Court:—Hugh Clifford Rishwortb. of Whangarei (Mr. Calder); Geoffrey William Douglas Mulgan, of Auckland (Mr. J. R. Reed)! Samuel Howard Ellis, of Auckland (Mr. Mowlero). Mr. Neil Lloyd Macky was admitted as a solicitor on the application of the Hon, J. A. Xole, K.C. Mr. W. 'J. R«es, secretary of Messrs. Arch. Clark and Sons, Ltd., was- yesterday the recipient of honours from the directors of the company and the staff, that were occasioned by the completion of 50 years' service with the company. Mr. Arch. Clark, chairman of directors, | in making the presentations, said there were still in the company's employ one or two who could remember his lather, the founder of the business in Auckland, and Mr. llees was one of them. Mr. Rees had won the esteem and personal affection of the directors and his fellow employees, and daring the whole time of his service no one could have done more to promote the interests of the business in even- way, and it gave him great pleasure* indeed to express their appreciation of hist services, not only in the counting, house, but in many ether ways. As a worker lie hud always been most loyal, taking a great interest ever since he was a" young man in everything that pertained" to the welfare of those by whom he was surrounded. The directors had agreed to give Mr. Rees six months" leave of absence and a cheque, and the members of th«. staff presented a gold watch, with suitable inscription, and they all sincerely hoped ho would enjoy his well-earned rest and visit to America, where ho had some relatives. Mr. Rees feelingly returned thanks, and «aid he hoped to enjoy a good holiday.
