The Union Company's turbine steamer Jlaheno .is to leave Sydney this afternoon tor Auckland direct. She arrives here on Sunday next. The Wanaka left Tim am at 8 p.m. on Monday for Napier and. Auckland. She has 1350 tons of produce to discharge at Auckland,. and is due here about Friday morning. The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Mamari is expected to leave Lyttelton to-morrow for Wellington. She then proceeds to Auckland to com- > plete loading. She is to sail finally for London on February 28. The Whan gape is due at Auckland early this morning with a cargo of coal from Westport. The Scales liner Clan Ogilvy arrived at Dun- . cdtn yesterday with a cargo of hardwood from Bunbury. ' After discharging at" other Southern porta the vessel comes to Auckland to put out the balance of her cargo. 'She may be expected here about March 11. • The Navua is due at Auckland this evening from Sydney and Island ports. On completion of discharge the vessel proceeds to Newcastle to load coal for a port not yet disclosed. The Hauroto will remain in the Fiji trade in the meantime. The coastal steamer Waiotahi will leave on a special trip to Whangarei at 10 a*in. to-day to convey a party of territorials to the Northern port. She is expected back here to-morrow morning. The Daphne will leave to-night for the Great Barrier in place of the Waiotahi. It was originally intended that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Matatua should leave Lyttelton . finally for London, but the vessel will not now call at that port. The Matatua will complete her loading nt Gisborne and Wellington, and it is anticipated that she will bo despatched from the latter port at the end of this week for London. Mr. J. Ormiston, chief engineer of the Monowai, went ashore- at Duqedin last week. Mr. Taylor' the second engineer, is acting-chief engineer, and the other engineer's have been temporarily promoted a step. Tho Hinemoa completed landing at the Cook Strait lighthouses and returned to Wellington on Saturday morning. She is to go on the Wellington patent slip to-day for overhaul, and is to proceed on her trip to the Northern lighthouses about the end of the week. It is reported that the steel barquentine Senorita, now in port at Melbourne, has been set down to load a cargo of broken blue metal for street purposes at Kalpara. The American four-masted barquentine James Johnson arrived at San Francisco on the 3rd inst after a passage of 68 days from Newcastle. The steamer Henrik Ibsen is due at Auckland at any time now from San Francisco. • The steamer Joan Craig, which arrived from Newcastle late on Monday night, berthed at No. 4 Jetty 'yesterday morning to discharge. , The. vessel left Brisbane on January 27 and proceeded to Grafton (Clarence River), thenco Sydney, Newcastle, and Port Stephens. She left the latterport at 4 p.m. on February 13 for Auckland, and experienced moderate weather to arrival, bhe sailed late last night for Tauranga, and after discharging a quantity of hardwood piles there proceeds to Lyttelton to put out the balance. The Joan Craig subsequently loads timber at Greymouth and Nydia Bay for Sydney. There has been launched at Govan the steamer Indraghiri, which has been built for the Indra Line, of Liverpool. The vessel is 450 ft in length. 53ft Bin in breadth, 33ft lin in depth moulded to upper deck, and of about 5750 tons &<**■ She has been built to the highest class at Lloyds, is fitted with a double bottom for water ballast, and has all the most modern appliances for handling cargo. The Tvser liner Whakarua arrived at Melbourne on Sunday morning from London after a passage of 44 days. After discharging a part rargo there, the vessel proceeds to Sydney and then to Auckland, Napier, and Wellington. She may be expected here about March 5. lONIC DELAYED. Cable advice received by the local agents for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company is to the effect that the B.M.S. lonic is running aeveral days behind her time-table date. The vessel left Hobart on Monday afternoon last for Wellington in continuation of her voyage from London and Capetown. The lonic should reach Wellington on Friday afternoon. • SAX FRANCISCO AND VANCOUVER MAIL SERVICES. ' The R.M.S. Maitai, en route from San Francisco to Wellington and Sydney, is due at Itarotonga to-morrow. She is due at Wellington on February 29 and Svdncy on March 5. . I The R.M.S. Aorangi, which left Wellington on | February 9 for San Francisco, via Island ports, is due-at the California!! port on February 29. i The B.M.S. The Canadian mail steamer Marama is scheduled to leave Vancouver to-day for Auckland, via Honolulu and Suva. The liner is due here on March 12. The K.M.S. Makorn, which left Auckland on. Friday last for Vancouver, via way ports, resumed her voyage from Suva yesterday. She is due to arrive "at the Canadian port on March 5. On March 11 the R.M.S. Zealamlia leaves Sydnev for Auckland, arriving here on March 15, and sailing the same day for Vancouver, via Suva and Honolulu. NEW CARQO STEAMER. An addition to the Australian coastal fleet of cargo-carriers in the shape of the steamer Wear arrived at Melbourne recently on her maiden voyage. She was specially built for Messrs. James Paterson and Co. by John Crown and Son, of Sunderland, being engined by George Clark, of the same place. Of 1868 tons gross and a deadweight capacity equal to 3000 tons, the Wear is replete with all the latert conveniences for the safe and expeditious handling of cargo. Electrio light is installed throughout, and generally the vessel is thoroughly up-to-date. Her length is 268 ft and beam 37ft. Without stopping at any port en route, the vessel accomplished the voyage from the Tyne in 58 days and exhibited fine seagoing qualities. She can steam 10 Enots an hour without pressure. It is intended to employ the Wear in the trade between Newcastle, Sydney, and Tasmania- ports.
