Republicans at Outairo destroyed the much revered image of the Lady of Lourdes, in the neighbouring village of Assentis. • Two thousand Roman Catholics marched to Outairo, and a fierce fight followed, five being killed and 40 seriously wounded. ;
Cavalry and infantry were called out to re-establish order.
