PORT CHARGES REDUCED.

Fletcher (chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board) announced ,at a meeting of the Board to-night that the Board had raised a loan of £50,000 in Wellington at four per cent, interest at par with the right to take from £1000 to £8000 per month as required.' The Board's financial position enabled reductions in port charge© to be made as follows Harbour improvement rate, 2d per ton; inward wharfage on general -goods, 2d per ton ; concessions in regard to manures and phosphate, 8d per ton.
