! HEADMASTERS* ASSOCIATION. I The monthly meeting of thei Headmasters' Association took place in the Central Hotel on Friday evening last, Mr. H. G. Cousins v (president) being in the chair. There was > a largo attendance of members, including Mr. G. W. Murray, a member of the Education Board and a life member of the f association. The president introduced the " question of the staffing of schools, which ' led to a spirited discussion. All agreed i. that many of the schools are considerably * understaffed. It was also pointed out that in the Auckland province, where so many schools have rapidly increasing attendances, this understating is particularly > felt. • Eventually a sub-committee was ap--5 pointed to further consider the subject, V and report to the next meeting. The Norwich cup trophy is to be offered to the Auckland Cage Bird • Society for competition, on the same terms as those on which it was competed for at the Auckland Association shows. The Norwich shield was offered to the Newton Pigeon Club and Auckland Cage Bird So- ' ciety for competition respectively in alternative years. METHODIST BIBLE CLASS. A "temperance rally" of the Methodist Bible Class was hold at the East-street Mission Hall last evening, when there was a satisfactory attendance. The chair was occupied by Mr. T. E. Price (president of the Methodist Young Men's Bible Class Union), who gave an interesting address on the necessity of the British nation as a whole grappling with and overcoming the evil of intemperance. - The Rev. W. A. ( Hay spoke on "No-license and Liberty," and the Rev. J. Wilson selected as the subject of his address "The Reason Why We „ Fight the Liquor Traffic." These speeches were listened to most attentively, and the applause was frequent. At their close Mrs. Armitage moved, and Dr. E. C. Winstone ' seconded, "That this meeting of Auckland : Methodist Bible Classes believing that no- , license and national prohibition will be in the best interests of society, pledges itself ' ! to use every endeavour for the abolition :|f of the liquor traffic."
