Scott had been found at Te Whau in an unconscious condition, with a bullet wound in his head. The Carterton police, accompanied by a medical man, went out. They ordered his removal to the hospital, but he died on (he way. He had a ; wound over his left eye, inflicted by a : pea rifle, which was found lying close beside his body.
