RAILWAY TO TAUPO.
THE PARLIAMENTARY ISQUIR* [BX TELEOtBAPH.—SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. ■Mention was made in the House of Representatives this morning of the special committee of inquiry regarding the petition of the, Taupo Totara Timber Company. The chairman of the commutes (Mr. Davey) asked permission for the committee to sit to-morrow morning while the House is in session. The leader of 'the Opposition remarked that the matter wis too important to be dealt with in the aying hours of the session, ana suggested that it should be left over till next session - when the new Parliament would htve opportunity to examine the details of ™ proposition. Mr. Davey replied that « . was inadvisable to discuss the matter while . it was still before the committee. " - was honed that a report would be maae this cession. . Permission was given,. ana the committee will probably present «■■ report to-morrow afternoon.
