The three-masted 'scow Hawk, which was recently purchased W Messrs.' E. D. Pike and Company arrived at Svdney on October 14 from Gisuorne with a cargo of timber, and sailed to an anchorage at the back of Garden Island.. THE- RAKANOA. At 7 o'clock last night the'collier Ilakanoa arrived from West port with a full cargo of coal and berthed at the Hobson-street Wharf to discharge. On completion of discharge, the Eakanoa will pro-. bably return to Westport. ' MABAMA LEAVES SYDNEY: . - The mail steamer Sfarama left Sydney yesterday afternoon for Auckland. As was anticipated, •it was not possible to discharge the whole of the Maheno's cargo from Sydney in the seven hours available yesterday. The waterside workers commenced at midnight on Sundav and ceased work at 7 a.m. Discharging operations* will bo commenced at 8 o'clock thin morning, and it is expected that the Maheno will get away for Sydney at noon to-day.' ■■■■■■-- STAR OF AUSTRALIA LEAVES NEW YORK. The Makura ha* a largo number of passengers on. board, while her cargo for this port, amounts to 300 tons, which includes largo consignments of fruit. Alter medical inspection by the port health officer, the Makura berths at the outer eastern tee, Queen-street V.harf. She is fixed to continue her voyage to SyCIWJ' this afternoon. TRITON FROM MALDEN ISLAND. At 3 p.m. vesterday the Norwegian barque Triton arrived in the stream unexpectedly from Maiden Inland. The vessel left Maiden Island on September 16, loaded with 500 tons of guano, and called on October 3 at Nine, where a number of natives were landed. She took her departure from Niue on October 10 and encountered a sucee<Mon of strong westerly and I westerly gales, with very* high . seas. The vessel's decks were nmtunions!v under water, while several sails were blown to pieces. Moderate weather then prevailed till October 19. when the Triton again ran into a strong westerly gale, the ship again losing several sails. The weather then moderated, and strong variable winds prevailed to arrival. The Triton will berth at the Railway Wharf today to discharge.
