WAIPA COUNTY COUNCIL.
[BY TELEGRAPH.own CORRESPONDENT.] - . . Hamilton, Wednesday. The Waipa County Council met to-day. . The supervisor said -he " had made arrangements for working both graders at the advanced rate of 37s 6d per day, and a start would soon be made. During the month 268 yds of gravel had been delivered at Whatawhata and 83vds at Te Rore.from Hodgson's quarry, at an average cost of 5s lOd per yard. The £100 authorised from ordinary revenue for < the Te Awamutu Road, as well as the-£2OO grant, had been expended, but had ' not been sufficient to complete the work.
Provisional approval was received from the State-guaranteed Advances Office for the following advances : —£soo for Mangahoe concrete bridge, £1000 for concrete culvert at Walker's Gully, and £1200 for Council's' contribution towards Pirongia bridge. The Raglan and Waitomo Councils wrote agreeing to the accepting of G. M. Eraser's tender for the Pirongia bridge. Mr. H. J. Greenslade wrote that- the Council's application for £500 for improving navigation on the Waipa River would have his attention and support, and the Minister for Public Works notified' that the matter was being considered and a report was being prepared for the Minister's consideration. ■ - The following tenders were dealt with: —Carting gravel 'on Millar's* Hill and Rhodes's Hill: H. Beere, 9s and 8s per yard; J. Kay, 4s 3d and 4s 6d. ' Kay's tender was accepted. - '• The ; supervisor was authorised to prepare the ground for the obelisk on the Orakau battlefield on the present level, such having been approved by the Department.
