Henry Forwood, ■■ St. Albans, was j found dead in bed this morning. The gas j in her bedroom was turned on, and; death j , hsd apparently! been caused by asphyxia- j tion- ~ — -~ .- ;.■'.,. . . 'ir .-* ■.. ; '/At the inquest held before Mr. H..W. Bishop, Susan Jane. Norwood gave evi-;-dence to the effect that, the deceased bad been in her service foMiearly three )} weeks ; * as housemaid. : : The girl did ' her. work . well* and appeared consented and, happyShe .never; spoke at all trouble. The girl ■:' generally roseV some, time after six : o'clock. Witness got up at about; seven o'clock, and saw that the deceased was -not up. When; witness went to the door t»f the deceased's room she found it: locked. , Witness then smelt "gas, and went round f £6"' the window, and " foundUhat.it ;. was 'closed but not fastened. Wifeless thought the occurrence was purely accidental. . ■ 14 a « Dr. Jennings said \he : hadf ■ made a post - mortem, and was of opinion that' the /cause of death was poisoning by,2luminant ,gaa. ■■- : - i -' ' '■■"'/ .■ "i ' ■' ... .. % -X The 'Coroner said that in view of private medical information given to him by Dr. Jennings, he would reserve his .verdict.
