TOMOANA LEAVES SYDNEY. The local agents for the Tyser Line (Messrs. Heather, Kobe'rton, and Co.) are advised that the steamer Tomoana sailed from Sydney at 4 p.m. on Saturday for Auckland in continuation of nrr voyage from New York. The vessel is clue hero on Thursday evening, and has SCO tons of cargo to discharge, at this port. From Auckland theTomoana goes to Wellington, thence Lyttelton and Duucdin.

TAPAROA SAILS FROM LONDON.

Cable advice has been received by the NewZealand Shipping Company which intimates that the steamer Baparoa sailed from London on September 20 for Auckland and Wellington, via Brisbane. She has 552 third-class passengers to disembark at the Queensland port and 5500 tons or cargo to discharge at Auckland. The Taparoa is due here about November 12.

TAINUI IN PORT. The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company's R.M.S. Tainui arrived from Port Chalmers at 6 a.m. yesterday, berthing at the Railway Wharf. She loads general cargo here for London and sails for Wellington on Saturday to complete, being fixed to leave the Southern port finally on October 5. Captain Moffatt is still in command of the Tainui, and has with him the following officers :— Mr. .1. Bosdet, first officer Mr., C. B. Foxier, second; Mr. A. C. Hvdo, third; and Mr. H. B. Gordon, fourth. The chief engineer .is Mr. G. Greenhill; second, Mr. D. Wynd; third, Mr. T. H. Webb J fourth. Mr. R. Galway; fifth, Mr. WW. Adamson; sixth, Mr. D. T. Baird ; ■ boilermaker. Mr. Hebbden; electrician, Mr. H. F. Fellowes: chief refrigerating . engineer. Mr. E. D. Day; second, Mr. T. R. Young Mr. J. A. Taylor is Marconi operator, and Dr. H. Larder ship surgeon.

HARBOUR REGULATIONS.

Last u-eek's Gazette contains a notice in which it states that paragraph 1 of clause (1) of General Harbour Regulations has been revoked and the following substituted for It:—(1) There shall be a fere and aft space of at least lift between the fore or after end of hatch-combing* and the nearest cross-beam, or "between cross-beams,- and, where necessary, sufficient batch-teams shall be unshioped and" moved clear of the hatchways, to give such space; provided that in vessels whose hatches arc less than lift fore and after measurement all cross-beam* and fore and afters in Hie hatches shall be unshipped and moved clear of the hatchways. All hatch-beams which are not unshipped must be properly secured to prevent their beeominsr unshipped should a slinc of cargo catch underneath them; provided further that hatch-beams .need not be unshipped when ' coal is being shipped into the hatches in hulk.
