DEARNESS OF FOOD.
CAUSE OF LABOUR UNREST.

Paris, September 6. The general labour unrest in Europe is attributed to the universal increase of food prices consequent on the drought.
The prompt arrest of the leaders of the " dear food" riots in several of the disturbed areas of France is depressing the ardour of the rioters.
Workmen at Fougeres compelled the shopkeepers to sell at prices fixed by the Labour Exchange.
A mob at St. Quentin stoned firemen while they were extinguishing an incendiary grain store fire. Troops then charged the mob, severely injuring several of the rioters.
