OHINEMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

PAEEOA, Thursday. THE monthly meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council was held this afternoon, Mr. P. Grace (chairman) presiding. Word was received that the £2500 loan from the Treasury for the Waihou bridge was available for expenditure. It was decided to ask Mr. H. Poland, M P., to urge trpon the** Valuation Department the necessity for a fresh valuation of the county ti^ 8 letter' was received from the Mines Department, intimating that the Minister declined to grant further assistance for prospecting for the Maoriland Gold Mining Cornpany. - It was decided to strike a general rate of one penny in the pound. It was decided to employ extra engineerin assistance .to lay out the work on the Il£kutaia Land Settlement Association's roads, for which, the sum of £800 is available. , , „. . Permission was granted to the Rising Sun Gold Alining Company to lay a tramway across the road at Owharoa. The Finance Committee's report show/sd the overdraft to be £7884 4s lGd, The receipts last month were £1553 2s 4d. Accounts amounting to £2120 13s 8d were passed /or payment.
