Mr. John H. Hale, of Walsall, England, who has been staying at the Central Hotel, wan a passenger for the South by the Main Trunk express last night.
Mr C. W. Jones, Wellington, manager of the Huddart-Parker Company, who has been staying at the Star Hotel, left by last night's Main Trunk express for Wellington.
Mr. R. H. McOallura, of Devonport, will leave on September 1 by the Makura for Vancouver. After touring the southern portion of the United States ho will proceed to London.
At a. meeting of the council of the Institute- of Journalists, held in London on July 8. Mr. W. S. Douglas, editor of the New Zealand Herald, was elected a Fellow of tho Institute.
The Rev. W. E. Cilium, vicar of St. Matthew's Church, left yesterday for Wellington, where ho will • catch the Maitai for San Francisco. He will visit various parts of the United States and Honolulu.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Withy, of Rotorua, (and late of Auckland), will leave by the Maheno on Monday next, for Sydney, on an extended Cook's tour. From Sydney they will take passage by the steamer Van Linechoten for Java, afterwards proceeding to Colombo and Bombay. They will tour India, Burma, and Spain, and subscquentlv go to Canada, and cross the north of that Dominion by the Grand Trunk railway route. They will return to Auckland by the San Francisco route.
