CARLTON CLUB. / ? ■■-■■••■- ' - Tho annual meeting of the Carlton Bowling Club was held in the clubroom, there being a large attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted. The report congratulated the members on the considerable improvement in the finances of the club, tho treasurer being congratulated in effecting this decided improvement. The greens wore badly on the surface towards the end of the season and. caused a good deal of anxiety to the green superintendent, but Mr. Kilgour,hopes that this difficulty will bo successfully overcome. Four teams entered for the Northern Bowling Association's tournament, held in Auckland , during January, and two teams for the Auckland Provincial Bowl, ing Association's tournament, without any material success being attained. At a very enjoyable tournament held at Howick D. McGregor, J. Gillies, R. Macgregor, and J. Kilgour (skip) were successful in annexing the trophies. Carlton were also represented at the Ilotorua and at the executive and first-year's matches in tho Auckland Provincial Bowling Association's tournament, held at Easter. Inter-club matches were played on Saturday afternoons, Carlton winning three and losing four. These games again proved most enjoyable. A departure was made in arranging a scries of Wednesday fixtures, which proved very successful. The croquet club has been a great attraction, the membership having had to be limited to 32 players consequent on the restricted number of lawns provided. The winter green again proved its popularity. Tho club matches for the season resulted as Championship, 11. Macgregor, runner-up J. Kilgour; president's prize, H. Gillies; pairs matoh, J. Mills and T. Cottle; novel match, W. Packman, runner-up G. Cutler; first, year's, Farrington. IHiring the year 17 new members were enrolled, while nine members resigned, leaving a net gain of eight members. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. F. E. N. Gaudin; vice-presidents, Messrs. T.' Cottle, J. Oahill; secretary, Mr. K. Lawrence; treasurer, Mr. D. McGregor; auditor, Mr.' w'. Perry; green superintendent, Mr. J. Kilgour; general committee, Messrs. C. G. Laurie, F. Cottrell, H. Gillies, and It. Macgregor; Matoli Committee, Messrs. W. B. Arey, T. Howe, and J. Kilgour; Northern Bowling Association representative, Mr. E. J. Hill; Auckland Provincial Bowling Association representative, . Messrs. C. G Laurie and J. Kilgour. The meeting decided that " any person who is a full member of any of the city or suburban clubs' or who is a member of any club affiliated to the Auckland Bowling Association, may become a full member of the club on payment of 1 guinea per annum, and shall have all the privileges oi membership."
