MEETINGS.
NURSERYMEN'S ASSOCIATION.
A spkoiai/ general meeting of tho New Zealand Nurserymen's Association was held last evening, when Mr. W. E. Lippiatt (president) presided over an attendance of about 15 members. Several visitors were also present, among them Mr. T. W. Kirk, and other officials of tho Agricultural Department. Mr. Kirk gave a very instructive address on tho prospects of tho orchard industry in New Zealand. Ho said that at least 2000 acres of fresh commercial orchards would bo planted this season, principally in Auckland, Nelson, Canterbury and Otago districts. An interesting discussion followed, and, in conclusion, a vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Kirk, and other officials.
TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL.
A meeting of tho Trades and Labour Council was held last evening. A discussion arose on the native lands question. It was agreed that something should bo done to open native lands, but no resolution was passed.
