Six men and one woman were occupants of the police cells last night. They were all arrested on charges of drunkenness.
A householder has written to a Napier paper stating that he still has his census paper, which has never been called for. It has eight names on it.
An applicant from outside the district for a headrinistersmip in tho Wanganui district described himself thus: — "Married; 19 years of age; present salary, £45."
By the abolition of two bottle licenses in Westport and the adoption of the 10 o'clock closing system, tho Borough Council will this year lose £165 in revenue.
A dairy farm of 100 acres in tho I'ahintua district, which was sold a few years ago for £24 per acre, is reported to have changed hands lately at nearly £40 an acre.
Through slipping on the waxed linoleum in her residence in Napier, a young lady was unfortunate enough to break her right "kneecap. - She was removed to the hospital for treatment.
The revaluation of the borough of Dargaville, just completed, shows a capital Value of £211,756, an increase of £88,131. The unimproved value is £70.978, an increase of £61,529.
A Diineciin draper found that £25 worth of ladies' underclothing had been taken out of a case of drapery consigned to him. It is believed tho pilfering was done at Dunedin, or on board the steamer.
Additional rubbish /eceptacles Are to be placed in Queen-street and in other principal thoroughfares of the city, and the traffic inspector has been instructed to see that in future the street sanitation bylaws are rigidly enforced.
