GENERAL MATTERS.
DEVONPORT TRAINING SCHOOL. Tenders for the erection of new schools were accepted as follows :— Hinuera Valley school" John Parkinson. * £217; Selwyn school, John Parkinson, £239; Te Awamutu school, G. H. James, £410; manual training school at Devonport, L. McKinstry, £1460. The Education Department wrote '.that the disestablishment of the Hamilton West District High School and the establishment of the Hamilton High School had been gazetted. The chairman reported that assistants in the, secondary department of the District High School had been given notice that their engagements would be terminated at the end of June. It was reported that the old buildings on the Grey Lvnn site had been sold for £154. The Chairman reported that the Minister had authorised a grant of £365 for a new school.at Owhango, and the architect had been instructed to prepare plans and invite tenders for the erection of the school building. The following ■ accounts were passed for payment Administration. account (34 vouchers), £887 3s 8d; building account (39 vouchers), £1380 -8s 6d ; manual and technical account (20 vouchers), £1441 19s Sd. .
