»■ . CALLIOPE DOCK PUMPS. DEPUTY-CHAIRMAN ELECTED. A special meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: Messrs. A. J., Entrican (chairman), J. M. Mennie, J. H. Gun«nt, P. Virtue, W. E. Hutchison; P. J. Nerheny, G. W. Basley, J. H. Bradney, W. J. Napier, and Captain G. llcKenzie., ' The chairman reported that from ten- , ders submitted for the Calliope dock pumps the engineer had selected three . for further consideration. Further iifor- ; matioa was being, obtained by cable. It ' was agreed that the Works Committee should report upon the tenders at the ( next inciting. ; It was decided to accept th» tenders, of i Messrs. A. '.and T. Burt, Ltd., for threa six-inch Darii-Sheppard water meters a{ • £41 each; and for 14 six-inch valves at 1 £3 9s, eight four-inch • valves at £1 19* i Cd, and 31 three-inch valves at 19s " each. . ; For the supply of cast-iron pipes, the tenders of Messrs. Briscoe and Co. of approximately £754, and for galvanised ! wroughtiron pipes, the tender of Messrs. ] Morrin and Company, of £98 Os 3d were i accepted. The chairman was granted leave of i absence for six weeks, the remaining '. period of his office, and Mr. W. E. Hut- i chison was appointed deputy-chairman. On the motion of the chairman, who j referred to the efficient manner in which < the Board's business was conducted by 3 its officers, a vote of thanks was accorded j to the staff, and the compliment was i acknowledged by the eecretarv, Mr. H. lj B.
