TARANAKI PETROLEUM.
THE DEEP BORING POLICY.

New Plymouth, Thursday. The manager of tho Taranaki ; Petroleum Company reported to-night that tho drill at No. 3 bore has reached a depth of 3700 ft, and is now traversing much improved country, and fresh traces of oil are showing in the bore. The chairman of the company states that this is the best news that has been received from the bores for a very long time as showing the justification for the deep boring policy. No. 5 bore is now down to a depth of 410 ft.
