FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.

Cambridge, Thursday. Colonel Wolfe, officer commanding the district, was in Cambridge yesterday to discuss with Major Walker and those interested in defence matters the new defence regulations. Dickinson), and Mr. 11. T. Tudehope. Major Walker staled that on ascertaining there was a movement in Hamilton to establish a foot corps, and of the intention to include Cambridge, he had written to Colonel Wolfe asking him to come and discuss the matter of forming a distinctly Cambridge corps. He assured the colonel that if once the facts were placed before those who were affected by the new legislation on the subject, there would be no difficulty in establishing a foot corns of the necessary strength. The Mayor undertook to" call a public meeting, at which the tacts could be placed before the young men of the place. Colonel Wolfe expressed himself pleased at the result of the conference. Major Walker was deputed to enrol members of the foot corps in the meantime, and to assume temporary command.
