KING'S VISIT TO INDIA.
DUKE OF CONNAUGHT TO BE REGENT.
By Telegraph. Association.Copyright.
London, January 23. The Daily Express states that the Duke of Connaught will be Regent while the King is in India, hence it is impossible for him to accept the post of Governor-General of Canada.
The Calcutta Statesman announces that the King and Queen will themselves place the crowns on their heads, thus avoiding ecclesiastical participation in the ceremony, which would injure the susceptibilities of Hindoos and Mahomedans.
