ONEHUNGA COURT.
LICENSING CASES.
The usual fortnightly sitting of the Onehuiiga Court, was held yesterday morning, when Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., presided. Sergeant M. Rogers represented the police. James Whitelaw was charged with attempting to supply a native woman named Hutana, with a bottle of ale. Accused pleaded guilty and was fined £5, with costs 17s, three weeks being allowed in which to pay the amount. * • William Dalziel was arraigned for having supplied brandy to the same native woman. He pleaded guilty and was fined £5, with costs 15s.
Robert Wallace was charged with having supplied Francis Marshall with liquor, and having assisted the latter to drink same, Marshall being a prohibited person. Wallace pleaded not guilty, and the evidence showing that he had no knowledge that Marshall was a prohibited person, ho was discharged. John Edward South, for procuring liquor during the currency of his prohibition order, was fined £2 with costs 7s. Francis Marshall for a similar Lapse was penalised to the extent of £1, plus 7s costs, BREACH OF AWARDS. Robert Fanrell, for whom Mr. C. <J. Schnauor appeared, pleaded not guilty to a charge laid by Mr. James Shanahan, inspector of factories, to the effect that being a, party bound by the provisions of the Auckland Grocers' Assistants' award, he failed to keep or produce an overtime and wages book. After hearing evidence a fine of £1 was imposed, with costs 7b. The Inspector of Factories claimed from Robert Farrell £5 • for employing an assistant at less than the award rate. As there hod been no intention to evade the provisions of the award judgment was given for £1.
