"THE DOLLAR PRINCESS.-'-

As is generally known, Mr. J. C. WO-*' liamson's New Comic Opera Company will; appear on Friday next in "The Dollar'' Princess." The box plans for "The Dollar Princess " are now open nt Wildman! and Arey's, and are, it is said filling rapidly. There are- some very attractive musical gems in the opera, namely, " A, Self-made .Maiden," sung by Miss Olive Godwin, as Alice Condor; "Inspection," a duet by Miss Olive Godwin and Mr. " Clayton; a catchy quartette, "Shall I do for America;" " Chewska," described as the "hit" of the piece;- the '"Typewriting" duet, and "Follow Me Round.'* In "Foolish Questions," Mr. Victor* Prince has a fine opportunity, and " Ring-a-Roses," by Miss Sargent and Mr. Prank Greene, is said to be very alluring. Miss Florence Young's great chance comes in. the operatic scena, " Hopeless is the State of Me." Mr. Percy, in conjunction with; Miss Sargent, is heard in the highly -humorous duet, "The Tramps." S. Percy; Dick, Mr. R, Hogue ; Tartaroff (of the Cirque Tartaroff), Arthur; . Lissant; Sir James Macgregor, Mr. Chas. Albert; and Harry Q. Conder (American multi-millionaire, Mi". Victor Prince.. Eight nights only will be devoted to "The Dollar Princess," which will be succeeded; on Monday, February 6, by Oscar; Strauss's famous opera, "A . Waltz Dream," the play of the sensational kiss In rapid succession will be staged "Tha Merry Widow," and "A Knight for a. Day," the box plans for which will, bo opened on Thursday, February 2. i . WEST'S PICTURES. The last presentation of the current programme drew a full house to the Royal - Albert Hall last evening. This afternoon at the matinee, the new programme' will be introduced, the latest pictures from London and Continental houses, it is stated, comprise the series. Views of the Thames from Oxford to Richmond are included in West's Empire series.) "Pocahontas," an Indian story from the! famous poem of that name, should be in-' . teresting. Glimpses of river life in Mar-* tinique. The 21st edition of Pathe's Gazette, "Clown and the Minister," -"The Kentucky Pioneer," and " Their Child," are reputed to be subjects of exceptional' merit. The merriment is supplied by . "The Detachable Man" (trick film),* " Wiffle's Twin," and " Bold Harry." No doubt the various subjects are up to the* usual standard of, West's productions. - AUCKLAND'S "WONDERLAND." \ To-night the second " Great White '*• Carnival is to be presented in ""Wonderland," and if the success of the previous one is any criterion, it should meet with an enthusiastic reception. The . charming surroundings of this pleasure resort so lend themselves to fetes of this description. that it is not surprising that the public during these summer nights flock . the entrance gates. When in^addi---tion an exciting racing programme is provided, a large public attendance is as-: sured. To-night some excellent races or* skates should be -witnessed. The "Champion Handicap" of two miles is the star feature, and run-die racing on skates is a sensational novelty. Many other good things are provided, and visitors to-night/ should certainly see " Wonderland" at its best. In addition to the Buffalo Bill Wild West pictures they will show the picture drama " Uncle Tom' .Cabin," the famous American historic work so faithfully and powerfully portrayed by Mrs. Henry Beecher • Stowe id her great work which has been read by, millions throughout the civilised world.. While the "Uncle Tom's Cabin " film is being displayed. Miss Dawn Brenmer, -will sing plantation and sacred solos, sup- . ported by choruses, thus producing as near as is possible the effects- achieved in the original play. Johri Fuller and Sons- are . providing vaudeville entertainment, was again well filled last evening, and the members of the company,, without exception, once more met with; enthusiastic receptions. The legerdemain turn given by Hassan, the Hindu, appealed? with particular force to the audience, who greeted the mystifying tricks with the mosthearty applause. * The same programme will be presented) this evening. FULLERS' PICTURES.. Fullers' Pictures at the King's Theatre* Newton, continue to meet with popular approval. Last night" there was again a. large attendance, and the audience testifiedits" approval of the excellent pictures screened "by applauding at frequent- inter- > vals. " The Royal Rink was again well patronised last* evening, when the . lovers of linking had an enjoyable time. A. special attraction is announced for to-morrow, evening in the form of a ""black-and-white night." The fete will be under the patronage of the officers, of the French' warship, which is now in port. A fancy, dress carnival will be held on Wednesday, Ist. prox., and a children's 'carnival on 3rd prox. CONCERT AT THE HOSPITAL, j A highly-successful concert was givcri by Mrs." I.' Alexander and friends to the patients at the Auckland Hospital last evening. Those who contributed were: —Miss G. Evans, Mrs. Rosenthal, Messrs.., L. Abrahams, A. McEhvain, W. Aspmall, Blakeley, and Evan, and the Lyric Quartette.. Mr. Midgley acted as accompanist* A hearty vote of thanks was accorded by the patients to Mrs. Alexander and thosa assisting.
