RELIABILITY TRIALS.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION".] ChMstchugch, Saturday. The Canterbury Automobile Association's reliability trials concluded yesterday. The care ran through, from Dunedin to Christchurch by way of Rakaia Gorge bridge. Three Cadillacs, three Talbots, two Wolseley Siddeleys, a.nd a Vauxliall made non-stop runs. A petrol consumption test was made on the run home; the figures for which were taken into consideration in awarding prizes.
N. Gilchrist's 15-h.p. Talbot was placed first, and won a special prize for the lowest petrol consumption, A. Morten's 14.20h.p. Wolseley Siddeley came second, and Captain McLean's 20-h.p. Cadillac third.
In the trade class Dexter and Crozier's 20-I).p. Cadillac won first prize and gold medal, W. J. Scott's 20-h.p. Vauxliall was secoiiii, and A. G. Nalder's ■ 16.20h.p. Wolseley Siddeley, third.
AN AUSTRALIAN CONTEST. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. (Received January 1, 6 p.m.) Sydney, January 1. The motor reliability trials concluded yesterday, when Tyler and Jenkins (Triumphs) and Murphy (Bradbury) arrived on time. The results will not be known for soma days, as various reports have to be made. Only eight out of 19 competitors finished, and tho test shows the necessity for strengthening frames and wheels.
