The death of Mr. T. S. Clibborn, at one time secretary to the Australian Jockey -Club, is announced by Press Association, cable from Sydney.

Mr. J. K. Logan, superintendent of electric lines in Wellington, severed his connection with the Public Service on Saturday. Mr. Logan succeeded the. late Dr. Lemon on January 1, 1894.

Mr. George Frost has returned to Wellington after a fortnight's visit to Auckland. Mr. Frost was impressed with the progress of the Queen City, but considers lhat Wellington holds its o\vi> in most ■respects. '

Mrs. Wilson, wife of Mr. John Wilson, •«£ Thames, died on Saturday morning, at the advanced age- of 72 years. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson have been very old and respected residents of the Thames, where they took up their home in the early days pf iho- goldfields.

Lieutenant-Colonel Bowler,-of Gore, arrived at Palmers on Thursday, and is a guest of Mr. JR.. McNab, who is honorwry captain in the same regiment, the 2nd , fxnitliland Mounieds. Mr. McNab leaves for Gore shortly to take part in his last training camp with his regiment.

The Hon.. Cyril Ward, a brother of Lord Dudley (Governor-General of Australia), arrived in Auckland by the Maheno from Sydney yesterday:" He is accompanied by Mrs. Ward and Captain O. C. S. GilJiatt, A.D.C. The party, who are at the Grand Hotel, leave for the South this morning, and will spend a few days fishing at Tanpo en route. Mr. and Mrs. Ward will afterwards be the guests of the Governor (Lord Islington) in Wellington, and after spending'about a fortnight in 2sew Zealand, will leave for Australia, en mute for London. n
