The Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) arrived by the second press on Saturday night, end was welcomed by the DeputyMayor (Mr. Scandrett) and .others, while the Pipe Band turned out also. ■ Sir Joseph Ward, in the course of a speech, said that after the. important session just passed through, . he was glad to, be welcomed by the familiar -sound of the bagpipes, which made him . and Lady Ward feel at home, in Southland. Once more he wished one and all a prosperous new year. (Cheers.) < : ■-
The Prime Minister will attend, the Caledonian games and Bluff regatta, and. hopes after that to rest for a while at Stewart Island.
