LAND SALE AT RAURANGI.

Whangarei, Friday. The sale of the sections of Raurangi Township, that were not disposed of at a previous sale was held on the ground, at the Bay of Islands, on Thursday. The owner, Mr. F. W. F. Fagan, of Taranaki, had decided to run a free train from Whangarei, and wayside stations ,'o Opua. Thence a fleet of launches were engaged to carry the owner's guests for the day down to the site of the sale. Free conveyanves also ran from Kaikohe, Ohaeawai, Okaihau and Waimate North, and lunch was provided on the ground. The train from Whangarei was crowded, and when Towai was reached nearly 600 excursionists had entrained. From Towai to Kawakawa the Public Works Department's trucks were used to convey the crowd, and on arrival at Opua the launches carried the passen era down to Raurangi.
Mr. A. R. Crane, of the Farmers' Union, was auctioneer, and 48 of the unreserved lots were sold and three of the reserved at prices ranging from £10 to £20 for quarter-acre sections. The average price was about £14. Whangarei residents purchased most of the lots.
