The bankruptcy returns show that during the year 352 petitions were presented, of which 239 were voluntary sequestrations. The total liabilities were £176,088, and the assets £119,376, the deficiency being £56,712. During the previous year there were 381 petitions, with liabilities of £168,169, and assets of £82,563.
