It is estimated that the outward traffic from Dunedin on Friday last wag represented by a total of about 3000 passengers, the principal bookings being approximately 800 by the two expresses to Christchurch, 850 by tho two expresses to Invercargill, 300 by the 9.15 a.m. train to Balclutha and Catb'ns branch line, 450 by the trains despatched to Oamaru at 12.35 a.m. and 3.18 p.m., and about 300 by the 4.50 train to Clinton. The inward traffic during the day would probably reach a total of 1700 passengers. the two north expresses bringing in about 850 people and the two south expresses bout 750. As far as the outward traffic was concerned a very large proportion of the persons travelling were evidently proceeding on camping expeditions, and the amount of luggage bandied was something considerable..
