The anniversary services of tho Henderson Methodist Church were held on Sunday last, tho preacher being tho Rev. G. S. Cook. There was an overflow congregation in the evening, and at the close of the service the choir, under the direction of Mr. Holt, rendered a carol service. The anniversary social took place on Wednesday evening, and was presided over by the Rev. G. S. Cook. The choir again rendered several pieces. Songs were sung by Miss Averill, Mr. Madill, and the Rev. G. 8. Cook, and recitations -were given by Mrs. Cook and Mr. G. Cook. The ladies provided refreshments, and Mr. Madill, of tho Avondalo Presbyterian Church, also gave an address. The Baptist Tabernacle Church and Sun-day-school are holding their annual picnic on . Tuesday, January 3. _ The steamer Daphne will leave for Ponui (Chamnerlin's Island) at nine am. Announcement.We wish to state to our many patrons that our summer purchases are at hand.
