LTD., 387, KENT-STREET, SYDNEY, N.S.W, The infringement of the Patent for the " Goidachraidt Thermit Process" for tho welding of metal pieces was the subject of an interesting suit in the Supreme Court recently, "when the Plaintiff ana Patentee, Dr. H. Goldschmidt, of Essen, Germany, obtained an injunction, with order for costs, against >U Chinn, of Adelaide, restraining infringment of the Patent. In a lengthy judgment in the Patentee's favour, Mr. Justice Street traversed all the arguments of the Defendant's counsel, and held that the . Patent was valid. / The evidence showed that this process has been successfully and largely used in all parts of the world, also in many parts of Australia and New Zealand (mora particularly in Sydney and Adelaide) for the welding of Steel Tramway Rails, thereby doing away with the usual Fishplates and Bolts at joints, and establishing perfect electrical conductivity without the aid of copper bonds. It ha« also been used with great success in the repairing of broken parts of Machinery, Locomotive and Steamboat frames, the rapiditv with which the repair is completed and the machine put back into service being a very important feature for its recommendation among Engineers.
