KAIPARA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.

The monthly meeting of the Kaipara* Chamber of Commerce was held at Dargaville on Monday, there being present: Messrs. E. Harding (president), F. J. Dargaville, F. F. Day, T. Nield, W. Chadwick, J. Brady, A.

Gregory, and Captain Smith.

The president "reported that the Government was not prepared at present to furnish telephonic communication between Dargaville and Whangarei, but that he had no doubt that in the near future the authorities would recognise the importan6e and necessity of such a connection. A communication wis received from tho Minister for Railways to the effect that the question of expediting speed on the Helensville line would receive consideration when the time-table was being revised. The president stated that a number of vague replies had been received in reference to the proposal to have a Ivaipara Court at. next Auckland Winter Show, and suggested that the chamber should find out exactly what support -would be forthcoming. It was resolved to write to all Kaipara local bodies, asking what amount each is prepared to pay towards having Kaipara represented at the next winter exhibition. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Ure Macauloy, postmaster at Dargaville, for the extended facilities he has extended to the public in connection with postal affairs. The question of advertising the district by illustrations and otherwise in commercial journals, in order that North Auckland may become more widely known oversea, was considered, and the matter was referred to a committee to report upon.
