A fitter named, -''liarles Willis met a terrible death at the .Meadowhiank Engineeiing Works at Ryde, near Sydney, last °k- He was adjusting the belting, when his clothing was caught, and his ann w '*s drawn into the shafting. Willis was 'iiirled round at a'terrific rate, The machinery was stopped almost immediately. li was then found that Willis had sustained fearful injuries. His left arm was torn off close to the shoulder, ins right thigh was fractured, and he w as injured about the lie/id and also internal) v, Dr. Smith, of Rvde, did what lie could to alleviate (he suffering of the man, who was brought to the Sydney •uusjutal* where he died in the afternoon.
