COMMUNION SERVICE.
AT ST. MARY'S CATHEDRAL. A special communion service was held in St. Mary's Cathedral, Parnell, yesterday morning, and was attended, by the members of the Synod. The scholars of the Maori Girls' School and of the Girls' Diocesan School were among the congregation. The service was conducted by the commissary (Archdeacon alder), assisted by Archdeacons Cole and Willis and Canon Mac Murray. The commissary preached on the subject of the election of a bishop for the diocese, and explained' to the congregation the momentous nature of the duty devolving upon the Synod, and the difficulties the" Synod would experience in carrying out this duty. He urged the prayerful intercession by the people of the Church for the right guidance of the bynod in making a, selection- Thu6 tH» HcJ " .host.
would speak, to the Synod, and direct its choice in accordance with the will of God. Personally, if that were done, he did not care who the man was; he would spend the last drop of his blood in faithful service to the one who was chosen to fill
