WAITARA WATER SUPPLY.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION'.] Waitara, Monday. The contract for the Waitara water supply has now been completed, and the water was turned on this morning, a fine display being made. The pressure was 1351b to the square inch, through a 3in fire hose. The water was taken well over the highest building in the town. The main line of reticulation is over 12 miles, and although there are over 2500 joints, not one single leakage occurred. The work was carried on by the Mephan Ferguson Steel Pipe Co., who contracted for the pipes and laying the cost to the borough being £16,000. The scheme was designed by Messrs. Orbell and McKay.
