PECULIAR FATALITY.

WOMAN SHOT AND DROWNED. At the inquest on Mrs. Goode, wife of Thos. Goode, of Gordon River (West Australia), who was killed last week by a shot from a pea-rifle, the evidence showed that while Mr. Goode was attending a sale at Katanning deceased and her nephew were practising shootiug at bottles with a pearifle. Whilst the boy was collecting bottles lie heard a shot, and on return found Mrs. Goode shot in the left breast. She told him to harness the horse and go for medical assistance. A housemaid, who had been apprised of the accident, rushed to the house to get the injured woman a drink of water, and on returning found she had fallen into the river, where she had apparently gono to assuage her thrist, caused by the* wound. The water was too deep for'the boy or girl to render assistance. The nearest neighbour was summoned, only to find that Mrs. Goode was dead.
