FOUND DEAD IN BED.
[BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Saturday. Ax inquest was held to-day on the body of. a half-caste, John Thompson, for some time employed as a ganger on the Piako drainage works, who was found dead in bed at his house, Pipiroa, Piako, yesterday. A post-mortem examination was made by Dr. Lapraik, -who deposed that death was due to heart failure, accelerated by the diseased state of the lungs, and that the deceased had been liable to sudden death at any time. A verdict in accordance with medical testimony was returned. The deceased was a brother-in-law of Mr. McWilliams, an old resident in the Piako, and was formerly a member of the old Thames Naval Brigade, and a crack rifle shot.
