PRISONERS' AID SOCIETY.
The quarterly meeting of the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society was held on Friday, at the Diocesan office, Mr. F. G. Ewington being in the chair. The secretary's report showed that large demands have been made upon the society's funds during the winter months, about 400 men and women had beendischarged from prison, and a considerably number of these have applied for and received assistance. Attention was drawn to the case of . a recently convicted man who—without any authority—hag been collecting money from charitably disposed persons in aid of discharged prisoners." The committee wish it to be clearly understood that no one is authorise'd to receive subscriptions for the .society's work, except the members of the committee. The following is the list of officers :—President, Mr. F. G. Ewington; vice-president, Mr. W. Brackenrig; committee, liev. H. Hawkins, Messrs. D. Macpherson, C. Hudson,; M. Clarke, T. Pointon,; ex officio, Rev. E. C. Budd (Carlton Gore Road), hon. sec. and treasurer.
