The New Zealand steamer Jlinemoa arrived from East Coast lighthouses yesterday . afternoon, and berthed at. yueen-street Wharf. She will leave for the North in a day or two. The s.s. Maheno, which will be due at Auckland on Sunday next, has 82 saloon and 88 steerage passengers, 859 tons of cargo, and two horses for this port. Mr. A. Pyper, late fourth officer of the Tofua, has been promoted to third officer of the Wanaka, and Mr. A. .T. Lockie, late chief officer of the Kotuku. has been transferred to the Wanaka in a similar capacity. The Tyser steamer Whakarua left Sydney on Wednesday, in continuation of her voyage from London., and should arrive at Auckland on Monday morning next. THE WANAKA ARRIVES. The Union Company's steamer Wanaka, Captain D. Todd, arrived from the Bluff, via ports, at. noon yesterday, with a cargo of produce, etc., berthing at the Queen-street Wharf. She left the Bluff at 11 a.m. on September 15, and called tit Timaru, Napier, and Gisborne en route, leaving , Gisborne at 1.15 a.m. on Wednesday, and arriving as above. Moderate variable winds and .seas i were experienced till arrival at. Gisborne, thence fresh west winds and rough seas until reaching - port-. The Wanaka is announced to load another cargo of produce, etc., at the Bluff on September 28, Oamaru on September 29. and Tiinaru on October 1, for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland. ~ FROM' OCEAN ISLAND. -• The steamer Waddon, Captain R. W. Barrett, : arrived from Ocean Island yesterday morning, with a cargo of phosphate rock, and took up an anchorage in the stream. Sho left the island on September 12, and experienced strong south,cast trade winds and heavy sea from - lldeg. --south'to 27deg. south, thence variable winds and fine weather until reaching port. The Waddon »has previously visited Auckland, having put into i this port three vears and a-half ago short of coal while bound from Chili to Sydney. The steamer Talune, belonging to the Union Steam Shin Company, from Southern and Fast, Coast ports, arrived at 3 p.m. yesterday, berthing at the Hobson-streot. Wharf. She left. Dunedin at. 4 p.m. on September 16. and called at the usual way porks en route, leaving Gisborno at 1.15 p.m. on Wednesday, and arriving as above.
