Wellington, Friday. Owing to the stoppage of wprks at Eo~l Flat about 40 men have been thrown out of employment. In regard to this matter, Mr. Murdoch (chairman of the Westland County) and Mr. Bruce (Mayor oi Ross) telegraphed to Mr. Seddon, M.P., yesterday, asking him to interview the Hon, R. McKenzie (Minister for Public Works), with a view of securing work for tnem. Mr. MeKenzie made arrangements single men to be taken on at the Lass railway construction works, and for the married men to be employed on the construction of a road between Koliatahi and Ross, and on the construction of the Walls Road at Wanganui, South Westland.
