TARANAKI WINTER SHOW.
: A SUCCESSFUL OPENING. ''■•;■ [BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] '-- : ■ ■ New Plymouth, Wednesday. The first Taranaki Winter Show was opened to-night under the auspices of the -Taranaki Agricultural Society. Despite the fact that the season is unfavourable for root crops, there is an excellent display of 'these/which rival in quality fch-J best shown at other exhibitions. A big collection of milking machine plants is a very strong feature, and the- work of the technical schools and dairy produce sections ;' is also prominent. These were judged-by Mr. Cuddie (Dairy 'Commissioner) • and Messrs. *• Johnston ' an.3 Wright (Government graders). The best box of. export butter shown was by the Pihama Dairy Company, with the .Bunnythorpe Dairy Company 's^ond ? and the : Taihape Dairy Company third. The novice class for export butter was also won by the Pihama Dairy Company, with, Bunnythorpe second and , Kaponga third. : v-, " ~:,, '.. ;'. In factory-made cheese, Kaponga ' ioY't .first prize, Ngaerere second, and Warea third. ,; - '-... ■-..-•'" ; ■-■ Great interest centres around a, splan"did: exhibit of a miniature refinery, and the results of refining oil from the Taranaki Petroleum Company's bores.
