McLaren, M.P., attended a meet- •' ing of the ■ Women's Christian Temperance Jlnion yesterday;/ by invitation, and: delivered short addresses. The following reso- ■ lution was carried unanimously:"That '-this'.'. meeting of: members of the Women's ■^Christian: Temperance Union -heartily endorses the candidature of Mr. George Davis, the Labour and temperance \ candidate, and "•urges strongly upon "the women electors of ' Auckland East that they use all their in-; "fluence and voting power in - support of Mr. Davie against monopoly, for the ,sake ■of the children, the home, and the nation." '-:■ Several ladies' names were added to the working committee set up the previous day to support the candidate. /A meeting of about 400 persons at the. corner of Upper Queen-street and Karangahape Road, was addressed last evening by Mr. Geo. * Davis and Messrs. A. W. Hogg and D. McLaren, M.P.'s. At the conclusion of his speech .Mr. Davis received unanimous : vote of thanks and confidence and the meeting broke up with cheers for the candidate. /
